Regular Maintenance 101

Ever wondered how to keep your massage table or massage chair in tip-top shape for the long term? Well, you aren’t alone. So, as this week’s topic, we are going to discuss the important topic of regular care and maintenance for your massage tables and chairs.

Check-Ups – Yes, tables need check-ups, too.I recommend that you regularly check to make sure your table’s screws, nuts, and bolts are tight and that nothing appears noticeably “out of place.”This type of preventative maintenance is crucial to catching problems before they become irreparable.

Healthy Joints – As tables age, their joints can become more challenging (much like ours, incidentally). Don’t be afraid to lubricate the joints of your table if necessary. If they still feel stiff or if they continually squeak, contact your table manufacturer for additional suggestions or repair.

Surface BeautyWho doesn’t love the feel of quality upholstery?Remember, keeping your upholstery in stellar condition requires more than cleaning it. It also requires that you keep it in a carry case when it is stored or in transit and that you keep it out of extreme temperatures. Believe it or not, putting your table in the trunk of your car on a hot day, for example, can cause serious damage to the upholstery.

Follow your Instincts. If something seems wrong, it could be. If it doesn’t appear to be a quick and easy fix, call your manufacturer. I assure you, they would much rather help you figure out the problem thanhave you try to fix it the wrong way and void your warranty.

The long and short of it is this: If you buy quality equipment, it stands to reason that it will last for many years to come. A little preventative maintenance can only serve to lengthen that period of time. To my mind, that’s a good thing!
